A TRIBUTE TO DISCO STRUT - MIX BY MR. WONDERFUL - RECORDED JUNE 09 Disco comps are not renowned for their unique track listings, the either have the same Roy Ayers or Marvin Gaye tracks. The Disco Strut compilation collection is one of those very few exceptions to that very unimaginative rule - The comp is so good there's actually a comp of it. I first heard of Disco Strut from Billy Goods (Boogaloo assassins / Funkmosphere) - and with a name like Disco Strut you possibly don't expect much from the record, when you see the record sleeve you expect nothing more than the worst a disco comp has to offer - but then listening to it, and the old saying of never judging a book suddenly begins to ring true - firstly because there aren't that many disco tracks on the comp (mainly boogie and modern soul), and the quality of some of the tracks are up there with the best the genre of music has to offer. There are five parts to the collection, and they are not that easy to come across. When you do get to find one you could pay anything from £10.00 - £40.00 for it, the reason for the prices is not just because of the rarity of the comp itself, but the rarity of some of the tracks on it - some tracks on it were never even released - So, as a tribute to Disco Strut I've decided to do two, one hour mixes.
